Aladdin Company, based in Bay City, Michigan, lasted longer than most kit companies. They  used the names “Readi-cut” and “Built in a Day” .

Brothers William and Otto Sovereign started the company. It was  family-owned and successful from 1906 until 1981, selling more than 75,000 homes.

Kit home manufacturers revolutionized home buying and building for the middle class. From tiny workingman’s cottages to large mansions,  kit homes provided a solid value and easy construction.
